At the end of November 2019, the "Pilot Program for Regional Integration of Coal and Electricity Resources of Central Enterprises" issued by the State Council's SASAC was released, which included the five provinces and regions of northwest China (Gansu, Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Qinghai and Ningxia) in the first batch of pilot projects on regional integration of coal and electricity resources of central enterprises. The regional integration of coal power resources was also mentioned at the meeting of heads of state-owned enterprises at the end of December 2019. What does SASAC's move mean to the industry? Lin Jiaqiao from REEI combed through the policy background of the mentioned program, and carried out a brief analysis in the form of an opinion article on the future of coal power in China's energy system. He published an article on this issue titled "Electricity marketization reform meets regional integration of coal power industry: how to solve the problem?" After the article was published, it was reprinted by numerous news outlets, including Polaris Sales Power Grid, Polaris Power Grid, Carbon Emissions Trading Network, Chinese Power Development Research Institute, Maidian Net, etc.
