REEI 2021/05/06
The country is expected to allocate 4 GW of solar capacity in 2021 across two tenders.
The Korea Energy Agency has commenced a tender for 2 GW of solar capacity, the first half of the 4 GW tender planned this year.
According to the energy agency, it intended to allocate 2,050 MW, said to be the largest ever tendered by Korea to date, in five project categories: installations of less than 100 kW, projects ranging from 100 to 500 kW, PV arrays with a capacity between 500 kW and 1 MW, solar parks with an installed power of 1 to 20 MW, and, for the first time, solar power plants exceeding 20 MW in size.
The result of the tender will be announced on 16 July with the contract awarded to the winning bidders in August.
