In June 2019, the National Development and Reform Commission and multiple departments jointly issued the "Green and High-efficiency Refrigeration Action Plan". By 2030, the cooling energy consumption of large public buildings has increased by 30% in this action. Among the various types of public buildings, hospital energy consumption is relatively high. Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospital cooling system has received a series of global concerns.

The latest research report shows that the cooling system of the health sector emits about 365 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent greenhouse gases, which is equivalent to the emissions of 110 coal power plants in a year. If effective measures are not taken in time to improve energy efficiency or replace HFCs refrigerants and other measures that contribute to sustainable development, the carbon emissions of the cooling system of the health sector may double by 2040.

On August 19, the Rock Environment and Energy Institute (REEI), the Green Hospital Committee of China Association of Building Energy Efficiency, and the "HVAC" magazine jointly held the seminar on "Construction and Operation of Efficient Refrigeration Systems in Green Hospitals". It was an honor to have many guests from the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, the Snowball Energy, China Academy of Building Research (CABR), Chongqing Midea General Refrigeration on Equipment Co., Ltd to participate in the seminar. During the seminar, Green Hospital Energy Management, Refrigeration Station Operation & Maintenance, Efficient Machine Room Construction, and Air Conditioning System Solutions have been regarded as key topics in the ongoing discussion. The success of this seminar also depends on the guidance of the Chongqing Health Committee and the strong support of the Organizing Committee of China Refrigeration Expo, the Midea, and the Snowball Energy.

By the end of the meeting, participants visited the China Refrigeration Exhibition and the Midea general central air conditioning plant. The exhibition shows the latest energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies of various air conditioners, providing more insights for energy-saving renovation to medical systems. In the context of the current international tension, the Midea, as a leading company in the domestic cooling system industry in the application of energy-saving technology and how to develop towards a greener cooling system in the future is also worth looking forward to.
