On February 23, 2022, Yuan Yating, research assistant of Rock Environment and Energy Institute, published an article titled “How did China create a ‘Green’ Winter Olympics and Paralympics?”. The article received wide attention immediately. The day after its publication, China Daily invited the author to write an English article about the Winter Paralympics, which was soon published on the official website of China Daily on March 14. The article detailed measures taken to minimize carbon emissions from the Games, which were suggested in the Low-Carbon Management of the Beijing 2022 Games (Pre-Games) Report, released by the Beijing Winter Olympic Committee.
