In 2018, an article titled ‘The Reality of Updating China’s Nationally Determined Contributions: Effects of Long-Term Economic Growth and Global Carbon Emissions Budget’, written by the co-founder of REEI-Ang Zhao, was published on Selton Hall Journal of Diplomacy and International Relations. In this article, Zhao shared his opinion on China’s updated NDCs, giving the conclusion that the new goal might be still far from what China is expected to do as there is a huge gap between China's current emission scale and designated size suggested by the very limited global carbon emission budget.
